The ASAF logo depicts ASAF's mission and scope, and it begins with the motto "Society Above Self," which is self-explanatory. In the logo, the Northeastern States are encompass ed by two strands of rice (paddy) representing the region's agricultural roots and primary economic activity. Education is key to progress, and an open book and pencil with a lamp depict ASAF's commitment to improving the education of the people in the region. The 'xarai' and 'japi' are two well-known cultural symbols of the region and are at the heart of the ASAF symbol. A pair of the world famous one-horned rhinos at the bottom of the logo depicts the reflection of the strength and determination of the people of Assam and the Northeast by the ASAF.
The ASAF logo was designed and created by by Mr. Debojyoti Das of Silpukhuri, Guwahati in over several months in early 2011. Mr. Das generously donated his time and efforts to ASAF for which ASAF is very grateful to him. To learn more about Mr. Das, please contact info@assamfoundation.org.
